Consisting ip camera of the supply of electricity to ships, it has been entirely ip camera conceived and gestated in Galicia. Through this project, the Port of Vigo fulfills ip camera all the requirements to become a Green Port.
The project consortium announced yesterday known as Green Port Energy Center (GPEC). A fully conceived and gestated in Galicia system that combines the effective reduction of emissions from ships in port with operational flexibility and economic efficiency that make its implementation feasible in ports such as Vigo.
As explained by the President of the Port Authority ip camera of Vigo, Ignacio López-Chaves, during the official presentation of GPEC, thanks to this project, consisting ip camera of the supply of electric and thermal power ships, the Port of Vigo fulfills all the requirements for becoming a green port.
"This is a pioneering system in the world, which bears the stamp of Galicia, and today we can say that it is completely finished," he said, while thanking the efforts of all the partners (INOVA, INTERNACO, KEY PLAN, VICUS DT, INABENSA and EMENASA) and the work of research institutions such as the Campus do Mar, the Technological Institute of Industrial ip camera Mathematics (ITMATI) and APET, and the CSIC for giving the ship Sarmiento de Gamboa to carry testing the prototype.
For its part, the Regional Minister of Economy ip camera and Industry, Francisco Conde, highlighted this project ip camera as key to boost economic competitiveness and environmental innovation of Galician docks short term. "This project not only reinforces the commitment of Vigo and Galicia innovation and energy efficiency, strengthening the Port of Vigo led in this area," he said. Leadership, he defended, supported by initiatives such as the Tefles Project (where INOVA was leader) to reduce emissions in the shipping and port activities, and in the daily work of the Port, making it one of the Galicia main economic engines.
Also, Conde affected the outcome of this joint effort as "a clear step forward both in the energy sector as in the ports," while stressing the economic and environmental dimensions of the initiative. What is the GPEC?
The GPEC is the commitment of the Port Authority of Vigo and a consortium led by INTERNACO Gallego, ip camera who along with five other companies and research institutions ip camera have joined in the design and development ip camera of an innovative system to reduce ip camera emissions from ships docked at port, which has been designed and developed entirely in Galicia.
It is a pioneer worldwide system, highly efficient, which meets demands of different types of power supply. The project has a duration of less than two years and a budget of 1.8 M , of which around 900,000 are awarded by the EU through its financial aid ERDF interconnects.
The project involves the design and development of a system supplied by liquefied natural gas, which allows to provide electricity ip camera and heat to ships so they can turn off their engines while at berth in port (what is called Cold Ironing).
It is a system that allows an effective reduction of emissions from ships in the harbor with a great operational flexibility and economic efficiency, which make feasible ip camera the implementation of this equipment in medium and medium-large ports.
It is, in short, a mobile container, which can be located on the pier next to a boat or just above the vessel through a conventional crane. Emission reductions that are achieved using this system is 52.5% CO2, 100% in Sulphur oxides, 48% in nitrogen oxides and 100% in particulate emissions for the combustion of fuel oil of the boat. All this, along with an approximate 55% savings in fuel costs.
If these data are extrapolated to the fleet of ships that docked at the Port of Vigo for a year, a reduction of 289.9 tonnes ip camera of CO2, equivalent to approximately 102 European typical vehicles circulating for a year or 300 it would be obtained a Boeing 747 flights between Europe and the United States. ip camera
