As the first decade of the new millennium draws to a close tonight amid massive celebration, specialist law enforcement agencies will be out in force to ensure public safety, with police units in choppers, at roadblocks on all major roads and on patrol elsewhere across the city. As Capetonians party away the night the sky will boast not only a partial lunar eclipse , but also a blue moon - so called when there is a second full moon in one month. In Cape Town and around the province the new year and decade will be ushered in with a multitude of parties, shows and events, in clubs, theatres, squares, streets, and on farms and beaches.
