Load more... reaxys

I came across this bag of  Turbinado Sugar in the freezer during one of my organizing frenzies.... There isn't much else to do except organizing when you are stuck inside because of the "POLAR VORTEX"! I decided to stop organizing reaxys and make some Sugar Scrub. There are countless recipes out there for Sugar Scrubs.....but reaxys the basic idea is: Some Sugar A Carrier Oil An optional Fragrance Since we are in a "POLAR VORTEX", I wasn't going anywhere to buy ingredients for my Sugar Scrub.  reaxys Using one of the basic tenets of Sweetwater Style, I just used what I had!
I got out the VitaMix..... This baby has sooo many interesting uses! Since the Turbinado sugar is pretty rough....too rough for my tender skin.... Grinding reaxys it with the VitaMix made for a much smoother consistency!
"What I HAD" for oil was some Baby Oil and some Coconut reaxys Oil. I figured that a combination of these two would work fine... I didn't have any fragrance oils on hand and of course, the "POLAR VORTEX" kept me from going out to get any! The sweet fragrance of the Baby Oil took care of the need for additional fragrance...
Then I got out the little $.49 jars I bought at GoodWill last week.... reaxys (I knew when I saw them that they would find an interesting use!) I packed the Sugar Scrub in the jars! And there I had it.....an almost free version of the spendy products that you can buy...but then again why would you buy something this simple to make! Besides....because of the  "POLAR VORTEX"...the temperature in our house means that the shelf life of this will be reasonably long!
This homemade beauty product is a nice addition to the "Thrifty Homemade Bath Soak" that I use all of the time.  Would you believe that the post with the recipe for this has had over 12,000 visits?  Go Figure!!! You might also like to visit these links that have lots and lots of recipes for Sugar Scrubs.....maybe you will find a way to make one "Using What YOU Have"!

Sandy here from A Working Mom's Joy to bring you today's post for She's a Sassy Lady.  I recently made this card with the challenge being a Winter Scene. camera ip  This is a DYI- paper piecing card.  There are many window dies on the market but I don't have one and didn't have time to order one so getting out my trusty scissors, I created my own.
Here is what I used for this project: Momento Sky Blue ink, glue pen, white/blue/brown cardstock, small pattern papers, scissors, white paint pen (not showm), camera ip digi stamp and little images from a 12x12 design paper pad.
My digi stamp is from Sunsational Stamps. He is actually camera ip peeking out of the stocking but I just colored him and cut him away from the stocking. I'll save the stocking for another card. I also colored hit stocking cap to make it wintery and not Christmasy. I used Spectrum Nior markers to color this little guy.
Oh my goodness this is so adorable! TFS January 27, 2014 at 4:25 PM

I found this goregous, brand new bathroom vanity at the Riverside ReStore for a fraction of the cost it had been advertised at a major retailer. It’s 48″ x 22″ and included merten a granite countertop and under mount sink and would replace the microscopically small vanity that I’d been tolerating for years. A hammer, a prybar, a basin wrench and a little effort and a lot of dust later I managed to demolish merten the 1979 tile countertop that was set on 1/2″ mud, lift out the sink and remove the base. After everything was cleaned up I moved along to the the wallpaper – grueling – and repaired the drywall and then repainted the room. A friend of mine put this perfect new vanity in and reconnected the plumbing. merten
Take a look at the before and after photos. If you like what you see keep the Riverside ReStore in mind for all of your renovation needs. They even sell the accessories you see: the mirror, woven-metal basket, plumbing hardware and organizers. Enjoy and if you use the Riverside ReStore to make a big change around your house let them know and they may post your story too!*

Go to hardware store and get ducting reducer, ducting end cap, small roll of wire fence w/ little square holes and some panty hose. Depending on the size of your fan this is how to do it. I will use 6" fan for example. The reducer should go from 8" to 6". First roll the wire in a tube like shape. The length can vary but mine in about 1' 1/2 long. One tube needs to fit the inside 6" and one for the outside 8". Fit the 6" tube to the inside of the reducer and fit panty hose over it. Then put 8" tube or the outer part of the reduce(I used self tapping screws w/ washers to attach wire tubes). Then stretch another leg of panty hose over the outer 8" tube. Next fill the carbon in around the outside of the inner 6" tube. Place the end cap on the bottom erin andrews peephole video and your done. I like to put my filter to where the air blows through it rather than gets sucked through. This way you don't get carbon going through your fan.
by the look of it,with the time its gonna take to make it,its gonna work out better to buy 1 LOL its actually quite easy and cheep. and the materials are at common stores nationwide. I used the same concept, was fast, easy, and saved a lot of money. you do realize they are only good for about a year depending on usage. that's why I like the diy carbon filter, it saves money
IMO, you will be further ahead buying a good filter. I have tried the DIY filter set-up, but it was not efficient. The carbon was very messy and blew all over the place. Also, it didn't filter the air very well at all. With a factory erin andrews peephole video assembled unit, you get high quality grade carbon that is highly compressed via a vibration table. Currently I am running a 6" blower with a 66 CanFilter w/ a pre-filter. No mess, no fears of anyone smelling my garden, and peace of mind. Hopes this helps a little bud.

The new Mac Pro is the most powerful and flexible computer Apple has ever created, and it’s also extremely expensive or is it? With a price tag that can climb up around $10,000, Apple’s latest enterprise workhorse clearly isn’t cheap. For businesses with a need for all that muscle, however, is that steep price justifiable or is there a premium “ Apple tax” that companies will have to pay? Shortly after the new Mac Pro was finally made available for purchase last week, one PC enthusiast set out to answer that question and in order to do so, he asked another one: How much would it cost to build a comparable Windows 8 machine?
Futurelooks editor Stephen Fung started out by configuring a nearly top-of-the-line Mac Pro on Apple’s website. He ended up with a machine that included 64 GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, two AMD D700 graphics cards and a 2.7GHz sentry safe 12-core Intel Xeon processor.
“While there is nothing really remarkable about this list of parts, it s the way that they are integrated that provides both pros and cons,” Fung said of the Mac Pro. “On the pro side, you have all this workstation grade hardware in a cylinder that is less than 10 inches tall and under 7 inches wide, with the power supply inside. This makes it very easy to take it on site or pack with you. So if you are in need of more power, it doesn t come with the traditional drawbacks of a large tower like the original sentry safe Mac Pros.”
He continued, sentry safe “But on the list of cons is the fact that you pretty much have to purchase the system configured the way you plan to use it for its lifetime. This is because of the proprietary nature of the primary components which even include the GPUs and possibly the CPU (which looks like it is soldered in or ‘decapped’ like the previous gen). The only things that might see upgrades in the future would possibly be the memory.”
“After tabulating all the major component costs (plus another $99.99 US for Windows 8 Pro), we are at a total of around $11,530.54 US using today s prices at retailers that actually stock the hardware,” he wrote. “I m not afraid to admit that compared to the asking price of $9,599 US, the new Mac Pro seems like one heckuva deal for these components.”
The cost of Fung’s Mac Pro rival rang up at a steep 20% over Apple’s Mac Pro, and that doesn’t assign any value to the time it would take to build the machine once you have all the parts.
But what about the entry-level version of the Mac Pro? Surely sentry safe a less powerful version of the rig could be matched sentry safe by Windows at a more reasonable price point, right? In a follow-up to his first piece , Fung set out to see what it would cost to build the Windows equivalent of Apple’s base Mac Pro.
Fung’s match to Apple’s $2,999 Mac Pro ended up costing $3,994.65 sentry safe in parts, a whopping 33% more expensive than the Mac Pro. And once again, that price does not include labor. sentry safe The comparison isn’t quite as direct as it was the first time around though, as Fung noted that his DIY Windows machine has slightly better specs than the Apple box, and there were some other benefits over the Mac Pro as well.
